We will be celebrating Holi today.

Holi also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love. It is an ancient Hindu religious celebration dated since Lord Rama reign but it is increasingly becoming popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as North America and parts of Europe.

Though it is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus or people of Indian origin….Like here in Mauritius J

The festival signifies the victory of good over evil  and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships.

Holi symbolizes happiness…joy and shows the colorful aspect of the world…But most of all…it shows acceptance of humanity as one…

When we play with colors…difficult to differentiate…who is fair...who is not fair...all is in one color….The color of acceptance and the color of love….

The “Air Corridor” Official Inaugural Flight MK 646 took off this evening at 21H11

An official delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Honorable Xavier-Luc Duval and also comprising of senior government officials, industry partners and Air Mauritius senior officials left Mauritius for Singapore.


Representatives of the local, regional and African press are also onboard the flight. 


The purpose of the delegation’s visit to Singapore is to inaugurate the “Air Corridor” and promote Mauritius as a tourist destination, a business destination and a gateway to southern and eastern Africa.

A proud moment for the nation.

International Women’s Day

The 8^th of March commemorates the International Women’s Day

 

This day has its roots in the March 8, 1857, revolt of American women in New York City, protesting conditions in the textile and garment industries, although it wasn't proclaimed a holiday until 1910.

 

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

 

The 2016 theme for International Women’s Day is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”.

 

And in Mauritius we are already working on it and we are also proud to have a woman as President of the country.

 

The importance of women in our society has never been questioned though in some countries they are still striking to make a breakthrough.
