The Lion Flag.

 Good Morning friends

Today we will discover together the facts and history behind the Sri Lanka flag also known as the Lion flag, officially adopted on December 17, 1978.

Prior to 1815, the gold lion was originally the national flag of Ceylon.

The Golden Lion in the flag represents the Sinhalese ethnicity.
The Kastane sword in its right fore paw stands for the authority and bravery.
The four pipul or bo leaves, one on each corner are Buddhist symbols representing (Kindness, Compassion, equanimity and Joy)

Last but not least the eight hairs on lion's tail symbolizes the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism.
