Winterlude the celebration of winter.

Dearest friends

Winterlude (French: Bal de Neige) is an annual festival in Ottawa and Gatineau that celebrates winter.

First organised in 1979, this event is one of Ottawa's most important tourist draws, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The event lasts for three weekends, usually the first three weekends in February and it started last week.

Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau is turned into a massive snow park with ice slides and snow sculptures and hosts numerous events and activities for children.

Whereas Confederation Park is the site for the ice sculpture competition, the ice lounge and musical concerts.

However, the focal point of Winterlude is the Rideau Canal Skateway which at 7.8 kilometres is the largest skating rink in the world.

Skate lovers make it a must to have their skates with them when they go to the canal and for those who forgot, it is also available for rental.

Winterlude is an event for everyone. Make it a must to attend.

So if you plan to be part of this winter celebration this weekend...You will be served with the 37th annual Bed race, Canada 150 maze, Military Band Concert, Ice carving championship and many other mesmerizing events.
