Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling

Good Morning friends

Cheese rolling is believed to have been a popular annual sport for at least 500 years in Gloucestershire, England,

Rolling cheese down from Cooper's Hill traditionally reminds villagers of their right to graze sheep in the beautiful pastures of the hill.

Early in the evening, the event leader, in a white smock and top hat, rolls the "cheese" discs (nowadays, three or four large wooden discs) down the hill.

The game is quite tricky, because the descent down Cooper's Hill is very steep, and people often end up tumbling down the side more quickly than the discs.

People chase after them, and the first to capture one of the discs receives a prize.

Have a great day…a bit rainy but not that bad.

The World Telecommunications Day

Friends

The World Telecommunications Day (17th May 2017) celebrates the constant evolution of one of the most important factors of our lives: COMMUNICATION.

The main goal of World Telecommunications Day (WTD) is to highlight the importance of communication and how information travels across the world.

It also aims to increase awareness of how crucial communication is in our lives, and stimulate the development of technologies in the field.

The World Telecommunications Day is in tight connections with the International Telegraph Union (ITU), the committee formed in 1865 to support the emerging communication methods of the time.

ITU was present throughout all the great breakthroughs in communication – the invention of the telephone in 1876, the launch of the first satellite in 1957 and, ultimately, the birth of the Internet in the 60s.

Even though The International Telegraph Union has since changed its name to International Telecommunications Union, it remains the most important entity in the field of communications, thus remaining in the spotlight at World Telecommunications Day.

Massive ransomware cyber-attack hits 74 countries around the world.

More than 45,000 attacks recorded in countries including the UK, Russia, India and China may have originated with theft of ‘cyber weapons’ from the NSA.

A ransomware cyber-attack that may have originated from the theft of “cyber weapons” linked to the US government has hobbled hospitals in England and spread to countries across the world.

Security researchers with Kasperksy Lab have recorded more than 45,000 attacks in 74 countries, including the UK, Russia, Ukraine, India, China, Italy, and Egypt. In Spain, major companies including telecommunications firm Telefonica were infected.

By Friday evening, the ransomware had spread to the United States and South America, though Europe and Russia remained the hardest hit, according to security researchers Malware Hunter Team.

This is not an attack that was meant for large institutions. It was meant for anyone who got it.

A Los Angeles hospital paid $17,000 in bitcoin to ransomware hackers last year, after a cyber-attack locked doctors and nurses out of their computer system for days.

Microsoft said its engineers had added detection and protection against a ransomware attack that had disrupted hospitals in England and infected computers in dozens of other countries around the world.

Microsoft Engineers added detection and protection against new malicious software known as Ransom:Win32.WannaCrypt,” a Microsoft spokesman said in a statement.

It said the company was working with its customers to provide additional assistance.

Be safe.

Day of Vesak

My dearest and adorable friends

Today we celebrate the Day of Vesak…A day I also was not aware that there was a day named like that!!!!!

"Vesak", the Day of the Full Moon in the month of May, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world.

It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that Buddha was born.

It was also on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha attained enlightenment, and it was on the Day of Vesak that Buddha in his eightieth year passed away.

The UN General Assembly recognized internationally the Day of Vesak to acknowledge the contribution that Buddhism has made and continues to make to the spirituality of humanity.

Wish you all a peaceful and blessed day of Vesak...Keep smiling life is beautiful!!!!
